Neonicotinoid Seed Treatments: Limitations and Compatibility with Integrated Pest Management

The authors wrote this commentary in response to industry-supported educational efforts regarding neonicotinoid seed treatments. They review the compatibility of neonicotinoid seed treatments with integrated pest management (IPM) practices, and consider their impacts on non-target species. They conclude that neonicotinoid seed treatments, currently used on almost all corn seed and the majority of soybean seed, are not compatible with IPM because they only target some intermittent pest species but are broadly used.
